SAM HOUSTON RACE PARK IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE 2019 LIVE RACING DATES -- CELEBRATING ITS 25TH YEAR OF HORSE RACING
Live Thoroughbred Horse Racing Returns January 25th, 2019
Sam Houston Race Park (www.shrp.com) has announced their upcoming Live Racing Calendar for both the Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse Meets to take place in 2019 - marking the beginning of their 25th Anniversary Season. Horse racing returns on Friday, January 25th with the start of the 2019 Thoroughbred Meet which consists of 32 live racing days.
Live racing will be held every Friday and Saturday night with a first post-time of 7:00pm. The Thoroughbred meet will also consist of eight Wednesday race days (with a first post-time of 12:00pm) beginning on February 6th and three Tuesday race days (first post-time 12:00pm) beginning March 12th. The Houston Racing Festival, featuring the Houston Ladies Classic (GIII) and the John B. Connally Turf Cup (GIII), will be held on Sunday, January 27th with a first post-time of 1:00pm. Texas Champions Day returns to a one-day event on Saturday, March 23rd.
After the conclusion of the Thoroughbred Meet on March 30th, the American Quarter Horse Meet will begin on Friday, April 12th through Saturday, May 25th – consisting of 20 live racing days. These days will include Friday and Saturday nights and every Monday afternoon.
Sam Houston Race Park will be hosting afternoon live racing on Kentucky Derby Day (Saturday, May 4th 2019) and Preakness Stakes Day (Saturday, May 18th, 2019).
