MODERATE PACE MAKES IMMALUCKYCHARM IMPOSSIBLE TO CATCH IN SAN JACINTO TURF
One race removed from a wire-to-wire score in the Miss Bluebonnet Turf where she had opened up a massive early lead, Imaluckycharm rated on the lead much more comfortably to win the San Jacinto Turf Stakes by 2 and ¾ lengths as the 3-2 race favorite.
Showing her customary early speed, Imaluckycharm was perfectly willing to moderate the pace in the San Jacinto Turf, establishing a clear lead through an opening quarter-mile in :25.33. After completing the opening half-mile in a pokey :49.63, the 7 year-old daughter of My Golden Song was well on her way for owner Carl Moore Management, LLC and trainer Karen Jacks. Jockey Floyd Wethey, Jr. seemed to know along the way that things were going easier than they had in the Miss Bluebonnet Turf.
“It was much softer today for sure,” I was just gonna let her stretch her legs on the turn and she just kept on trucking.
Trainer Karen Jacks continued her dominance in the San Jacinto Turf, winning it for the fourth time in the last five runnings. Imaluckycharm had previously taken top honors in it in 2023 and her half-sister, No Mas Tequila, won in both 2022 and 2024. Jacks was more confident in Imaluckycharm in the San Jacinto than she had been in the Miss Bluebonnet Turf stakes now that she had a race off the layoff.
“We didn’t have a prep race last time,” Jacks said. “She was better off today and more prepared.”
Bet down to 3-2 favoritism, Imaluckycharm once again raced with the blinkers Jacks had outfitted her with last month. Her plethora of early speed and distaste for early pressure prompted the design that would guarantee she sees open spaces in critical early junctures.
Owner Carl Moore, who has a Breeders’ Cup win among his accomplishments, spoke glowingly about Imaluckycharm. He bought her for $38,000 at the TTA Yearling Sale in 2020 and her career earnings are now in excess of $580,000.
“She’s special,” he said. “Karen has done such a great job with her and she’s been one of the sweetest horses I’ve ever had. It’s hard to find her kind.”
The 2025 San Jacinto Turf winner, Blood Orange, rallied to be a distant second. Optimistic Cowgirl ran on late to round out the trifecta and was followed by Take My Picture, Kause I’m Devine, Availing, Sky Rocker, Golden Pelican and Sweet Karat Cake.
