SHRP GATES OPEN 6:30 AM

FIRST RACE AT 6:45 AM

$2 BREAKFAST SPECIAL 7:00AM TO 9:30AM

The $10,000,000 Dubai World Cup (G1) from Meydan Racecourse in Dubai headlines the richest card in the horse racing world.  And the headline horse in this race is Arrogate trained by Bob Baffert with Mike Smith as the jockey.

Arrogate has only 6 lifetime races and 3 stakes races under his belt.  Those 3 stakes races are the 2016 Travers Stakes at Saratoga, the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland, and most recently, the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream.  Rarely has a horse become so dominant in such a short time.

Other American horses in the 14 horse field include Gun Runner, Keen Ice and Hoppertunity. Click here for an analysis of the entire filed from Brian Zipse of www.horseracinigingnation.com. The Dubai World Cup is race 9 at 11:45AM Texas time.

The “Undercard” consists of a single Grade 2 race and 7 Grade 1 races including the $6,000,000 Dubai Turf, the $6,000,000 Dubai Golden Shaheen, and the $2,000,000 UAE Derby which is a Road to the Kentucky Derby Race.  Click here for the complete race card.

There is win, place, exacta, trifecta and superfecta wagering on each race (except no superfecta in Race 9). There are also a rolling double and a rolling pick 3 plus a single pick 4 (races 6-9) and a pick 6 (races 4-9).

Free Dubai programs will be available starting Friday afternoon at the north program stand and at the players’ lounge desk.

OTHER ROAD TO THE KENTUCKY RACES

The Road to the Kentucky Derby also makes two stops this weekend in the USA. The $500,000 Spiral Stakes is at Turfway Park in Kentucky on Saturday while the $800,000 Sunland Derby at Sunland Park goes on Sunday.  The Sunland Derby has produced one Kentucky Derby winner in its history.
