OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

The Contest

The “$2,500 Texas Champions Day Online/At the Track Handicapping Contest” (“the contest”) is a contest held at Sam Houston Race Park (SHRP) and www.shrp.com that requires the handicapping of eight (8) stakes races at SHRP on Saturday, December 1, 2007.  Contestants will be asked to make win, place and show selections on the eight stakes races: the “Star of Texas Stakes”, the “Martanza Stakes”, the “Richard King Stakes” the “San Jacinto Stakes”, the “Spirit of Texas Stakes”, the “Yellow Rose Stakes”, the “Groovy Stakes”, and the “Bara Lass Stakes”.

The winner will be the person with the highest cumulative net total from the above races based on an assumed $2 win, place and show wager.

No Purchase Is Necessary

There is no purchase necessary to enter this contest. A person must register for this contest online at www.shrp.com or at SHRP.

Rules

Patrons visiting www.shrp.com between Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, December 1, 2007 can register for the contest.  Entries, post positions and morning line odds for the eight races will be posted on the website Thursday, November 29, 2007 after 3:00 p.m.

Deadline to enter the contest at SHRP is 6:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, December 1, 2007.  Entries must be submitted at one of the designated locations located near the South and North grandstand entrances. Entries entered after 6:00 pm CST will be ruled ineligible for any and all prizes.

Each contestant may enter only one time, either online or at the track.  Contestants with more than one entry will be disqualified.  All fields on the entry form must be completed for an entry to be eligible.  Contestants not filling in the entry form completely will be disqualified.

Contestants will be required to make their selections on the designated entry form and place their selected horse for win, place and show only.  Contestants may select the same horse for win, place and show or may select different horses for each position.  Contestants may only select one horse for each position in each race.

Entry blanks listing official horse selections in the designated categories only – win, place and show – must be submitted online or at SHRP by 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2007 to be eligible for the contest. 

The names of the three top winners, but not their order of finish, will posted at www.shrp.com  Wednesday, December 5^th, after 5pm.  Also, an email will be sent to all participants naming the top three winners.  The order of finish and the awarding of prize money associated with the order will take place at a special presentation ceremony on Saturday, December 8^th @ Sam Houston Race Park after the feature race. The winners who attend this ceremony will be treated, along with one guest, to our award winning buffet @ the winner’s circle restaurant.

SHRP is not responsible for technical difficulties that prevent a contestant’s entry from reaching SHRP online, or who are unable to submit their entry in person at Sam Houston Race Park. A reply will be sent to the email address provided by the contestants from SHRP upon receipt of entry.

How To Enter

Each contestant will make one (1) win, one (1) place and one (1) show wager on each designated race.  Contestants may select the same horse for the win, place and show wager for each of the eight stakes races.  A selection must be made in the blank for the chosen eight (8) races for the wager to be valid.

Contestant’s entries will be scored according to the cumulative total of their selections. 

Scratched Horses

If a horse is scratched following the contestant’s submission of the entry form, the horse will be replaced with the post time favorite. 

Cancelled Races

If one of the selected races on the cards from SHRP on Saturday, December 1, 2007 is cancelled, the contest results will be determined by the outcome of the remaining races.

Winning

The winner will be the contestant with the highest cumulative net total based on an assumed $2 wager in each win, place and show selection for the eight races. 

Tie Breaker

In the event of a tie the winner will be the person with the highest individual payout based on the assumed $2 bet.  If there is still a tie, the winner will be the person with the highest number of correct win selections.  In the event there is still a tie, the tied entries will split the prize money.
