CELEBRATE JULY 4th WEEKEND AT SAM HOUSTON RACE PARK

HOUSTON (June 19, 2009)— Celebrate July 4th Weekend with the best bet in town—a visit to Sam Houston Race Park (www.shrp.com) for a special weekend of family-friendly fun featuring live racing, music and an array of games and activities Thursday, July 2 through Saturday, July 4, 2009.
Houstonians and visitors are invited to bring their family and friends out to kick off the holiday weekend on Thursday, July 2 with Dollar Day at The Park sponsored by StarTex Power, Dreyer’s Ice Cream and Hebrew National Hot Dogs, where general parking, general admission, live racing programs, hot dogs, fountain sodas, ice cream, draft beer and Pony Beer are available for just $1.
The party continues Friday, July 3, as The Park hosts the 15th Anniversary Vans Warped Tour (www.warpedtour.com) in the West Lot of The Park. Vans Warped Tour is one of the most popular all-ages touring music and extreme sports festivals in America returns to The Park for a second year for a day of music from: 3OH!3, The Devil Wears Prada, Flogging Molly, Bad Religion, NOFX, and Underoath along with country music performer Shooter Jennings and more!
In addition, The Park will hold live racing events and Guys Night Out presented by Houston Press, 94.5 The Buzz and 93.7 The Arrow beginning at 7 p.m. The evening’s race card will features nine American Quarter Horse races with ticket packages starting at $19 per person.
The weekend will close out with the annual July 4th Celebration at The Park. The All-American event features live entertainment between races, free games and activities in the Fun Zone and live horse racing beginning at 5 p.m. Live music from Charles P. and the 10% (www.myspace.com/cpandthe10)will take place between races and before and after fireworks. Highlights from the evening’s 11-race card include the $7,500 Colors of Alamo Paint Futurity; $20,000 Silestone Stakes; and the $7,500 Colors of Texas Paint & Appaloosa Stakes.
As part of the weekend’s events and activities, patrons will have the opportunity to visit The Bud Light Lounge Thursday through Saturday. The Bud Light Lounge is comprised of four distinct areas offering guests a free, fun, engaging, highly interactive hospitality and refreshment experience. Visitors can enjoy music videos and trendy lighting in a climate-controlled oasis during the day and a club-like atmosphere in the evening.
The evening will culminate with one of Houston’s largest and most patriotic fireworks displays with musical accompaniment provided courtesy of 107.5 The Eagle, immediately following live racing events.
As part of the celebration, The Park will offer a special $39 Winner’s Circle Dining package on July 4th which includes admission for live racing events, live racing program, and reserved seating with a spectacular view of live racing as well as the fireworks display.
The Grand Buffet will offer: carving stations with a variety of meats including Herb Rubbed Prime Rib and Cajun Rubbed Turkey Breast; an assortment of chilled homemade salads; peel & eat shrimp; traditional and holiday-themed vegetable sides including Chipotle Deviled Eggs and Buttered Kernel Corn with Bell Pepper Confetti; homemade pies; an assortment of cakes and cookies; dark chocolate fountain; and our famous Haagen-Dazs® ice cream sundae bar.

Tickets for the July 4th Celebration include the $49 Family 4-Pack with (4) general admission tickets; (4) hot dogs and sodas and (2) live racing programs.
Beginning at 7 p.m. general admission to The Park will be $10 per person with children ages 12 and under FREE; general parking will be $10.
Get in on the “Early Bird Special” beginning at 2 p.m. for live racing events featuring General Admission for $4 Adults; $2 Senior Citizens and children 12 and under FREE; General Parking will also be available at $5 per as part of the Early Bird Special.
