Celebrate Independence Day with a variety of affordable family fun

 

Celebrate Independence Day with a variety of affordable family fun featuring live racing, live music events and an array of family activities at Sam Houston Race Park (www.shrp.com) on Independence Day with the annual July 4th Extravaganza at The Park.

The All-American celebration will feature live Quarter Horse racing beginning at 5:00 p.m., fantastic holiday-themed dining packages from new Executive Chef Hugo Gomez, live entertainment at The Showgrounds on the Sugar Hill Emerging Artist Stage from Three Fantastic, Southern Backtones and Arthur Yoria, family activities and more. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for The Park’s food drive benefiting the Houston Food Bank (www.houstonfoodbank.org). Sports Clips will be offering free haircuts starting at 5 p.m. with donations made to Texas Children’s Hospital. Immediately following live racing events, The Park will host one of Houston’s largest and most patriotic fireworks displays in town. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. The event will be simulcast on KHPT 106.9 The Point.
