Jose Daniel Corte Jr came to Sam Houston Race Park in August 0f 2007 as the Senior Chaplain. His understanding of the program helped to ensure a smooth transition when he was called to be full time chaplain.
Chaplain Daniel, has been involved with the racing industry since 2004. He became familiar with the people and horses in the racing industry in 2001 while showing the extremes of the Front and Backside of Santa Anita Race Park in California to a group of people from Thailand. Two year's later his father became an RTCA chaplain, and was able to hear more about the this amazing program and ministry. Then, one year later in 2004 he Joined RTCA as the new Chaplain at Delta Downs Race Track.
Chaplain Daniel loves and respects the people on the backside, and he has a unique understanding of the ups and downs of life at the racetrack. When he is not walking and talking with the people on the backside, you can find Chaplain Daniel enjoying life with his family - wife Bianca, two sons, Jose Daniel III and Johanan Deuel and canine friend Rocky.
The various Chaplaincy programs at Sam Houston Race Park include Sunday morning worship in the Chaplaincy building at 11:00 a.m. and Tuesday night bilingual service at 6:00 p.m. The public is always welcome to attend.
