The Park signs electricity contract, Champion Energy signs marquee sponsorship
HOUSTON, TEXAS, Friday, April 23, 2010 — Scott Fordham, president and chief executive officer of Champion Energy Services (www.championenergyservices.com) has secured a contract to provide electric energy to Sam Houston Race Park (www.shrp.com), Houston’s premier racing, dining and entertainment destination. The 24 -month contract goes into effect in late-April 2010.
“We are extremely excited about this new partnership. We always look for companies with strong local ties when evaluating potential business partners for The Park,” said Andrea Young, president and chief operating officer of Sam Houston Race Park. “This relationship will allow Champion Energy to showcase its products to more than one million customers annually while also helping us understand and manage our utility costs. We look forward to working with Scott Fordham and his team for years to come.”
As part of the agreement, Champion Energy is also aligning with Sam Houston Race Park as a multi-year marquee sponsor of the 300-acre entertainment venue. As part of the sponsorship, Champion Energy will have a significant on-site marketing presence, premier signage placement and ongoing recognition at events, including presenting sponsor of the July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza, title sponsor of the annual New Year’s Eve celebration and certain race and concert event naming sponsorships, among other high-value components.
“We are excited to welcome Sam Houston Race Park as a commercial electricity customer, and we are equally excited to be a platinum partner of this landmark property,” said Fordham. “The Park’s dynamic management team has a winning game plan that will continue to elevate the venue’s widespread appeal as a thriving entertainment destination, providing unique opportunities for Champion Energy Services to reach potential customers in this densely populated and rapidly growing northwest Houston market.”
“We are extremely excited about our platinum partnership with Champion Energy Services, particularly the naming rights elements,” stated Wayne Hodes, chief sales and marketing officer of Sam Houston Race Park. “The partnership includes the renaming of our members-only club to the Champion Energy Services Jockey Club, which hosts our top customers, horsemen and members from the racing community. The relationship also includes the Champion Energy Services Lounge, which will host our VIP concert goers this summer.”
More than 1.3 million people visit The Park annually for live and simulcast horse races, concerts, music festivals and other marquee events such as Cirque du Soleil performances, Houston’s largest aerial fireworks show, cook offs, family days and other celebrations. Open 365 days each year, The Park also offers a range of hospitality options for trade shows, conferences, corporate meetings and special events, and features dining options at the Winner’s Circle Restaurant and the recently renamed Champion Energy Services Jockey Club.
